Rape Blossoms
Nothing says early spring like a field of rape blossoms — that shock of yellow along the roadside that looks almost too bright to be real. This project lets you bring a little of that home in paper.
The trick is repetition rather than difficulty: you fold a batch of tiny four-petal blooms, then arrange them on green stems and leaves. Keep in mind this one uses scissors and glue, so it’s more paper craft than strict origami. Make a dozen or so and you’ll have a cheerful spray in no time.
STEP 1.
Cut the origami paper in half along the dotted line and make a crease.

STEP 2.
Make more creases by aligning the edges of the paper with the existing creases.

STEP 3.
Cut along the creases with scissors.

STEP 4.
Place the separated paper with the colored side up and fold it in half along the dotted line.

STEP 5.
Turn over one sheet and fold it along the dotted line.

STEP 6.
Fold it in half along the dotted line.

STEP 7.
Turn over one sheet and fold it along the dotted line.

STEP 8.
Glue down the loose parts.

STEP 9.
Make as many of these parts as you like. For reference, the rape blossoms in the photo use about 16 pieces made from one sheet of origami paper.

STEP 10.
Cut and glue green origami paper to make stems and leaves.

STEP 11.
Arrange and glue the parts freely, and your rape blossoms are complete.
